Sarah & Richard's Wedding

I never set out to be a wedding photographer, can you imagine the stress? But sometimes opportunities come along that no one in their right mind would turn down and this was one of them. The wedding ran over two days with a Civil ceremony on the Friday and a Wedding ceremony on the Saturday, both of which were beautiful. Have been dying to share but had to wait until Mr & Mrs Holmes had seen their photos, they have so I can blog them at last - have loads to share so will do a few at a time over the next few days. New window

When we bought the guest house it had a very old, very tired window on the landing that we vowed to replace, 8 years later we have just done it.

New window

I had high hopes and to be honest the new window doesn't live up to them. Initially the whole thing was going to be opaqued glass, then I thought we should make a feature of the beautiful arch, the old window used to catch the sunset and cast a lovely yellow glow and I thought maybe we could replicate that. I hadn't realised that new fangled (cheap) processes use film not coloured glass and film just doesnt have the depth, I had wanted the setting sun to have yellow and orange alternate rays and for some reason they could only colour every other, and when the film is viewed against the leaves on the trees outside its not yellow, its green.

Did I mention that the window isn't opaque either? It was supposed to be and once it had been installed the installer mentioned that someone had made a mistake and the glass was clear and not opaque. So he is going to fix install a new bottom section that is opaque. We live in hope. (That said Digby is loving his new vantage point - a view he has never had before!)

Doesn't she look thrilled.

Steve is organising a Three Peaks Challenge in September, which involves the insane task of climbing the 3 of Yorkshires highest peaks, one after the other, in one day. I know crazy. Yesterday he decided that he needed to make sure he knew his way off Pen Y Ghent so Em and I dropped him off in Horton and decided to go to Ingleton. Unfortunately Ingleton was having a 1940's day and was heaving! On the upside Em and I inadvertantly joined the back end of the Military vehicles parade - Em waved! So we headed out of Ingleton and got lunch in a great pub and then decided to take a scenic circular trip back to Ribblehead on the way up the hill some huge plane was doing a fly over for the 1940's day and I was in a prime place to take a snap - all very Battle of Britain! You know what they say about the best laid plans..... We got to a very high bit on the moors and the storm rolled in behind us, all very dramatic, then the wind came up and then the heavens opened, unfortunately we were on a small gated road and Em had to keep leaping out in her sandals to open and close gates - luckily we had a waterproof car rug in the boot which served as a mac, she makes a cute bag lady! Then it went really wrong and we got totally lost, long story short Steve was less than impressed that at the end of his 10 mile walk he had to wait 40 mins for us to pitch up to drive him home, oops! I don't think going thigh deep in a bog at one point helped much either to be honest.

The perfect Saturday?

Spent Saturday afternoon and evening at Jez's birthday barbie which was fantastic; great food, clear blue skies and really good company. It doesn't get any better. Unless of course there are three and a half year old twins wondering around. Meet Harley and Harrison, aren't they fab! They had been to Halifax Gala and had got transfer tattoo's which they were incredibly proud of. These photos show them as they are - proper little boys, complete with scrapes, scratches and dirty feet!

Boatshed photo - update

Have received the print of my boat shed photo this morning, it looks amazing, so pleased with it. Took it the framing place this afternoon and had it laid out on various mounts and with different frames and was seeing it properly for the first time and spotted this little varmint peering out from underneath the door! Was totally blown away when I spotted him - not least because he is staring right at the camera! Have decided to have a really wide mount put onto the photo with a graphite metallic frame, it is going to dominate in the breakfast room but what the heck! A quick phone call to my mum and some googling revealed that he is not a sea otter as I had hoped but a stoat - bit less glam but still adds something to the photo that makes it even better for me!
